Former America's Next Top Model To Play Whitney Houston In LifeTime's Biopic

Yaya Dacosta has been cast to play the role of Whitney Houston in a new LifeTime Movie, I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story. Veteran Actress, Angela Bassette will be directing the made-for-TV film, which is a biopic of the iconic singer and actress.

In the movie, Dacosta will be portraying the success story of Houston as she persevered in her career despite all the trials and tribulations that came her way. The plot will also feature the singer's romance and turbulent marriage with her ex-husband, Bobby Brown. "from the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity, to their courtship and tumultuous marriage." according to a press release.

Yaya Dacosta, 31, who made her TV debute in Season 3 of America's Top Model, is not new to acting. She has starred in a couple of movies such as The Butler, Take The Lead and some cameos in All My Children and Ugly Betty and House.

Although the fans are very happy about the upcoming movie that will be honoring the late singer, the family believe she deserves a bigger screen. Pat Houston, Whitney's sister-in-law, told TMZ that "Whitney is certainly worthy of more than a television movie. If Whitney were here today, this would not be happening."

Whitney's loved ones are already working on a bigger project similar to the level of Michael Jackson's This Is It. So, the release of this movie, is regarded as a clash of interest.

Whitney's Estate has reportedly expressed their dissatisfaction to Lifetime and are threatening to file a lawsuit if the movie gets released.

Bobbi Kristina, the only child of the pop legend has also been very vocal about her disapproval of the movie. She went on her Twitter and expressed her grievances as follows:

"I don't know how to feel, this so called "film" isn't in my positive thoughts. That's my mother, what makes you think that's ok with me? If Any1 would or should EVER play my mother & tell OUR story, we've talked MANY times & 1 & ONLY person she approved of is ME. Understand that & I hope that answers every & ANYONES questions about it to me. You don't have to like it, but it WILL be respectedTRULY understand ppl want 2love&honor#HERSTORY way they think should be told. But simply out of respect, All I ask isn't mucho lol."

"I Will Always Love You" is set to be released sometime in 2015.
