Shocking! Elizarbeth Pena Dies At 55

Born in September 23, 1961, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and raised in Cuba until age 8, Elizabeth Peña was an American versitile actress who starred in notable motion pictures such as La Bamba, Jacob's Ladder, The Incredibles and Lone Star, Down and Out in Beverly Hills, *batteries not incuded, Vibes and Rush Hour.

Peña passed away after a brief illness at the age of 55 on October 14, 2014, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

The news of her death was announced by her nephew, a film reviewer Mario-Francisco Robles, in an article in Latino-Review the following day. The nature of the illness was not disclosed.

Other TV shows she appeared in includes L.A. Law, Dream On, Resurrection Blvd. and Modern Family, where she played the mother of Sofia Vergara's character, Gloria.

She starred in the 1980s sitcom I Married Dora in the titular role as a housekeeper from El Salvador who marries her employer to avoid deportation.

Pena also provided her voice to Disney-Pixar's the Incredibles, the Justice League cartoon series and Seth MacFarlane's American Dad.

Her most recent appearance was on the El Rey Network drama, Matador.

She is survived by her husband, two children, mother and sister.

I am still in shock! The first time I noticed Elizarbeth Pena was in the tragedy movie, La Bamba, where she acted as Bob Marales' girlfriend. A very abusive relationship that later made her a mother of one.

I thought she had the most beautiful deep voice. Initially, I thought she lost her voice, but that was actually her normal voice. I would rewind the video over and over again just to listen to her voice. She was a terrific actor and clown as well. So beautiful and you just can't get enough.

Watch this tribute slide video of the amazing star that we will forever miss...

RIP Elizarbeth Pena.
