Ben Murray Bruce's Words of Wisdom For Nigerian Leaders
The 2014 Silverbird Man of the Year Award which took place on Sunday, May 3, was a memorable one. Nigerian leaders gathered at the Eko Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos State, Nigeria to witness this exclusive annual event.
Out of the six very competitive nominees that was chosen for their extraordinary achievements, Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan emerged as the winner for his effort in restoring peace to the state, massive infrastructural development free health care for children and the elderly and his highly acclaimed micro credit scheme.
The Silverbird Group created the Silverbird Man of The Year Award to honor Nigerians who have not only excelled in their career paths, but who have also positively impacted the lives of the people they serve.
It was a spectacular night indeed and a lot of powerful speeches were made by powerful men and women. However, it was the Silverbird's Chairman, Ben Murray Bruce's thought provoking speech that touched the hearts of people. If Nigerian leaders would listen, accept their mistakes and abide to his advice, maybe the country will sooner than later be better a place to live in.
One of Bruce's best statement during his speech was : "We look we have no conscience, we have no conscience. What is the qualification to seek public office? A school certificate. What university teaches us about compassion? We must care about the least of us if we don't we pay the ultimate price, destruction. We are a poor country; Nigeria is too rich for our people to be so poor."
Watch the entire video of his very thought-out speech and tell me if he didn't hit the nail of the head.
